Arctic wolf hunting

Arctic wolf hunting

The Arctic wolf is a heterotrophic, warm-blooded mammal.  The arctic wolf is a tertiary consumer, carnivore, and predator that hunts and eats arctic hares, caribous, and muskox.  Humans are the main threat to arctic wolves.  They hunt them and their impact on global warming has damaged the food chain of the arctic wolf.  Arctic wolves sleep in dens and are dependent on the hares, caribou and muskox they eat, as well as other the wolves in their pack.

Arctic wolves birth their pups in May and June and usually have litters of two or three.  The parents will build a den, often in a hill or the abandoned den of another animal.  The pups are blind and deaf for about two to three weeks after being born, and stay with their mother for around one month.  At twelve weeks old, or three months, they will begin accompanying their elders on hunting trips, since they are now big enough and strong enough to catch/eat their own food.

Arctic wolves live together in packs with others of their kind and usually survive for up to 10 years.  They do not hibernate, as much of their prey is especially active during the winter.  They can be awake during the day or night, but are typically diurnal.

Sarah, you are an amazingly efficient writer. When I first looked at this page, I thought there must be a lot of missing information; however, you really packed a lot of info into one paragraph. I would still try to add a bit more though. For example, how long do the cubs stay with their mother? Do they hibernate? Do the live in caves or underground or? So try to gather more information for this page. A video would be great on this page too. Maybe one showing the wolf hunting or caring for its young.
